- Maintain a positive image with all participants and staff
- Strong communication skills

- Physically able to participate in activities with participants
- Other duties on an as needed basis

Athletic Program Co-Ordinator

We are currently recruiting for an Athletic Program Co-ordinator. The successful candidate will be working with autistic youth (with different spectrums) from ages 8 and up. It is imperative that you display patience, have attentive listening skills and the ability to provide direction and support. You have a creative mind-set, are energetic and have solid communicate skills that will allow you to adapt to various audiences (PLAY staff, parents, family members, autistic youth, etc).
You will promote effective intellectual and physical interaction with autistic youth by promoting athleticism; strengthening their physical capabilities which helps build their self-esteem and independence. You will be responsible for conducting all strength and conditioning training, programming and reporting for all PLAY programs/activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working co-operatively with program team in planning, implementing and supervising PLAY programs/activities/special events
- Encourage positive and social interaction for all participants and parents/family members
- Supervision of facility, equipment and all staff members, parents/family and participants during program hours
- Attend and actively participate in orientation sessions, training and workshops
- Ensure the health and safety of staff members, parents/family and participants during program hours is paramount for liability purposes
- Ensure that consistent, fair and appropriate disciplinary actions are maintained accordingly
- Maintain positivity and effective communications staff members, parents/family and participants
- Develop monthly schedule for in class program/activities
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma/Degree from accredited educational institute in Special Education, Psychology, ECE or Social Work
- Related experience working with children/youth with special needs (physical/mental)
- Experience developing and implementing fitness programs/activities
- Certified First Aid CPR/AED Attendant (must be valid)
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Employees will have multiple tasks within the PLAY organization from training to marketing.
- Must be available for travel as required. Work assignments will be during the week, Tuesdays.
